Against Fate

Against fate is a series of pictures in different techniques on different types of paper. All the pictures share the same title and poster layout, in which they point to different themes and areas of knowledge against all kinds of determinisms and ideas pre-established through genetics, colonialism, geopolitics and ethics, among others .

The project began in 2011 with the statement of the geneticist and pedagogue Yulia Kovas: Determinism is Wrong" in which she described the genetic changes that different living things suffered when learning new things. The idea of breaking with determinism suggested multiple possibilities of images against the artistic media, rules, discourses that were involved with biology, anthropology, linguistics, literature and various fields of knowledge. This raised different mediums and a playful work system in which the graphic treatment, theme and technique change in each drawing. Against fate is a series of painted posters that finally play to not take affirmations for granted.
